Hall of Mirrors Verb

Room, plate and long hall with freeze and shimmer

DECAY sets how long the tail rings and MIX sets dry against tail. ROOM picks the space: FUNHOUSE, a medium room with early reflections; PALACE, a plate; and INFINITE, a long hall with shimmer. Inside, HOLD freezes the tail, also when you hold the footswitch.

What it does

Simple and under control. The basics outside the box, the advanced controls inside.

On the front

Three knobs and a switch, enough to get the sound without reading a manual. One knob does most of the work and the switch picks the character.

  • DECAY how long the tail rings
  • MIX dry against tail
  • LEVEL output volume
  • ROOM FUNHOUSE, PALACE or INFINITE

Inside the pedal

Click the panel and the pedal opens on the controls an engineer looks for, and a battery. Every one of them works in every mode, so the same front settings can go many ways. Opening it doesn't change the sound.

  • PRE-DELAY the gap before the tail
  • TONE tilt of the tail
  • LOW CUT and HIGH CUT filters on the tail
  • DUCK more ducking lets go more slowly
  • SPREAD width of the tail
  • HOLD freezes the tail
  • IN and OUT TRIM gain staging before and after the pedal

Overview

DECAY sits in the middle and sets how long the tail rings. MIX sets dry against tail; at 100 % you hear only the tail, for use on a send. LEVEL sets the output.

ROOM picks the space. FUNHOUSE is a medium room with early reflections, PALACE a plate, and INFINITE a long hall with shimmer. Each room is its own tank, so switching lets the old tail ring out.

Open the pedal for PRE-DELAY, TONE, LOW CUT and HIGH CUT to place the tail, DUCK to pull it down while you play, SPREAD for width, and HOLD, which freezes the tail. Holding the footswitch does the same.

Measured before release

the measured numbers from this plugin's report: loudness against bypass, clicks, aliasing

Presets

34 factory presets in folders by kind of space: Rooms, Plates, Halls, Pre-Delay, Ducked, Shimmer & Ambient and Dark & Lo-Fi. The trims, bypass and HOLD stay out of presets, so your gain staging survives a preset change.
